Religeous Education
Students from TK through 4th grade visit the Atrium once a week for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a unique approach to catechesis through which children build deep, lifelong relationships with Christ and His Church. Originating in Rome in the 1950s, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd uses a rich Montessori approach to engage children with age-appropriate, hands-on materials based on Sacred Scripture and the Liturgy. Each week, children and catechists gather in the atrium to listen and respond to God’s Word and reflect deeply on the Mass and the sacraments. The children receive a presentation each and have the opportunity to choose their own work as they continue to ponder different aspects of our faith. In the atrium, work and study spontaneously become contemplation and prayer. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd gives children the time and space to foster their relationship with God and allow them to grow in His love.
