Science

Our Science Lab is well-equipped for our wide range of Science courses at both St. Isidore School and Chesterton Academy. 

Our courses are General Science in 5th Grade, and Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  High school courses include Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science and Physics.  

For Life Science and Biology our lab is stocked with multiple vernier probes including temperature probes, pressure probes for studying enzyme activity along with gel electrophoresis chambers for observing DNA fragment restriction enzyme separation, an autoclave, incubator and high magnitude microscopes to study bacterial growth and transformation.  

For Chemistry and Physical Science we are stocked with many chemicals, with pH probes, water baths, hot plates, and all the glassware needed to observe chemical reactions.  Physics and Physical Science classes are equipped with motion detectors, Force meters, current meters, voltage meters, light meters, acceleration meters and photo gates, magnetic field probes and RF meters.  

Earth Science includes a weather station, a very large quantity of classified rocks and a fossil collection.
